Episode 2.19 – December 1, 2014 – an interview with AIDS activist Michael Hennessey

unnamed-36It isn’t always famous people and inane conversation here at the Worst Show on the Web.  Sometimes we want to talk about something meaningful.  Since today is World Aids Day we wanted to take a moment to shine a light on this insidious disease.  24 years ago this week’s guest, Michael Hennessey, was given a death sentence.  Following a diagnosis of HIV Mr. Hennessey was given a life expectancy of nine years.  This terminal diagnosis was really his awakening.  With only a limited time left Michael turned his focus towards comedy and activism and found that through them, he could physically beat the disease.  After 24 years and a few close calls Michael is still doing it.   We will be talking with Michael about what it was like in the early years of the AIDS epidemic as well as what can be done to help spread awareness to a disease that is now far from terminal, but also from over.  Join us for one of the few times when we get serious…well, as serious as we can get.
