R. I. P. – Don Pardo (1918 – 2014)

He’s no longer live from New York, or anywhere else. One of the most recognizable voices in broadcasting has been stilled.

You have to admire a man whose career spanned 70 years, from radio to television game shows to late night comedy. He was also the first NBC announcer to broadcast the news of President Kennedy’s assassination.


But I’ll remember him as the announcer of my mother’s favorite game show, the original Jeopardy.


R. I. P., Mr. Pardo.
