R. I. P. – Ed Lauter (1938 – 2013)

There’s something about a great character actor passing that just gets me in the gut. Ed Lauter was a great character actor. I first saw him on the big screen in the execrable 1976 remake of “King Kong”. The same year, he also appeared in Alfred Hitchcock’s last film, “Family Plot.” His angular face was instantly recognizable on practically every TV show ever made since the early 1970’s – and I’m not exaggerating much. The man has 203 IMDB acting credits. Here’s to someone who fit the true definition of the term “working actor.” So long, Ed…
